i don' know much about pottery, bur pre-war (WWII) Japanese pottery has value!

Interesting that the first image your story is giving me of the new ship is one of sloppiness....I say that because when I saw the name of it earlier...Nippon....I was immediately forming a picture of something quite different. I have some Nippon china pieces that are so beautifully detailed and delicate...my understanding is Nippon is how everything made in pre-war Japan was marked, can't remember the story. Anyway, I just never associate sloppiness with the word.

Oh, boy! The tone of this story so far does not bode well for a "fun" experience on your part, especially the job part. LOL. And yes, there is "sloppiness," and then there is "SLOPPINESS!" A huge difference!

I know what you mean about the danger of being sloppy at sea. I've heard of people getting into serious accidents as a result of it.
