Waste not want not. We have little bins for waste food, I think that is terrible really, but some folk put them out regularly. If I have a slice or two of sliced bread the rooks will will usually oblige. Don't say that you might have another family.

Re: RPresta,

Sure, it would be tasty over butter pecan, I bet!

Re: TAPS,

Yeah... sounds like a good possible, reminds me of something called Mock Apple Pie that is made with saltines instead of apples. I never tried it, and long ago forgot the way the recipe went.

I'm a long-term fan of lucky kitchen accidents...

I slice apples onto a microwave safe plate, sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon, and nuke 'em for 30 seconds to a minute. They're still just a bit firm, but softer and it's like a bit of Apple Betty without the dangerous, gluten-laden topping.

Would it work with ice cream?

It sounds like it would be good just to spread a little on a saltine....maybe a buttered saltine.

Pour it over pork...yum sweet and sour pork with wild rice.

if your furry friends start singing to you Disney style and you write about it, I am coming down to take care of you....
