We didn't drive much to visit aunts and uncles - though aunties and others would often drop inat our house for tea; I always tried to avoid these occasions! What really turned me off was the way they all would go on and on about their ailments, an aversion that has stayed with me to this day, LOL...

Much like you, I prefer homebase. Fortunately my kids and grandkids don't feel the same way, and my house is the gathering place for family and friends alike. Suits me fine - when they leave I ask them to text me when they get safely home, jump into pj's, and no driving is needed to get to my big chair or bed!

well families were bigger. Sis got to a stage when she will never visit me...don't know why. We all used to meet at Gram's house in the city of Adelaide to mingle with Dad's family. A huge big old House in an old suburb. Most of my cousins were older and all boys.

In those days Pat it was a custom to pay visits to relatives. I don't know if it applies so much now. A good many I have spoken too, confess that they have fallen out with their
families or most of them. Little Women . Yes I remember that well and Anne of Green Gables. It was filmed as well I seem to remember. I know that little girls feeling.
