You have captured the essence of poetry well...I know of a few who have looked at a potential girlfriend/boyfriend as a sort of savior.

I have a tulip border along the front sidewalk, just inside the

retaining wall, which is the perfect height for a sit-down if one is there on Memorial Day for the 5-K run. St. B's puts the finish line just a few feet down the street, and there are always dozens of people waiting to cheer on the runners. Having the tulips blooming at that level is apparently too much temptation for some passers-by, and every one has been picked or knocked off the stem before it's bloomed for two days.

I don't have any trouble with tulips and I do know that the naughty squirrels and Chipmunks will eat the bulbs.

I must not have sensitive skin.  I've grown and bought tulips all my life, cut them for boquets, handled them, smelled them and have never been bothered by them.
