ps....re my Post...I should have explained that I am a true Blue royalist and I believe totally in the West Minster style of Government. It ain't perfect by any means but is my preference. Once back in the seventies we had a PM and Labour party who brought in too many changes too quickly and bankrupted the Nation in 18 months. The Governor General was able to sack the Gov. and call an election. Naturally Liberal which is actually Conservatives, won a landslide victory. The Nation is still divided about the sacking but they are the ignorant or radical left.
If Aust. becomes a republic and all that entails I hope that I am alredy a pile of ahses. LOL

I think I would have just huddled up in the broom cupboard Naut. It made me feel giddy reading this. Good job you did not offer a plate of squid at the same time.

I imagine those storms are quite a sight to see and to experience. I have been on the Chesapeake Bay in a storm, but I know that is different compared to an ocean where there is no land in sight.

What a fun post! I've never been out to sea on anything but a big cruise ship so this sounds very exciting! I've been out in the Gulf in the big fishing boats with the upper deck and we had some waves, but absolutely nothing like you describe. I didn't get seasick on any of the cruises I went on but I was never 'tested'! LOL!

Wow! Seas with waves of forty feet! Danger lurked. Helmsman had better be on exceptionally good terms with his lady, me thinks.

Unfortunately, I am not a good sailor, especially when a ship is being held like this, virtually as at anchor. The color green comes to mind . Still, I am on land and Zi really enjoyed this post. My Dadalways had a wood boat with an inb oard Motor when i was a kid. I understand about riding those waves.
