You are right - education is important, if even for one's own satisfaction, but we need our trades people too. In many cases a plumber is more important than the lawyer.

Brilliant. And the Mother may be disappointed but education for educations sake is never wasted. The more educated the populace is, the better thinkers we have and the country is therefore run better. But I come from farming people and before that in England, carpenters, ship building and whatever. Huguenot stock before that. Hard working folk so I appreciate work that is done with ther hands. Maybe one reason i became an RN.

So true Pat some go to college and get into a massive debt and what do they learn history and art. If they were to take engineering or something to do with future work where there would always be a shortage of staff,it might be all worth while. One could always study other projects as a hobby.
