I'd rather have a window on the world instead of hiding out, but I definitely would want the window to be made of unbreakable glass.

Well I don't argue against his genius but he doesn't believe in God so he doesn't know everything. Ever since I can remember someone has been prophesying the end of the World...but going sort of off the grid works well for me. I love all my comforts but I also love being isolated on our little animal sanctuary.

Pat
Some stray asteroid could wipe us out anytime! But I am resisting the advance of technology as well! I will never, ever buy a Keurig - I'll keep making my coffee from freshly ground beans! The grinder may be an electric one, but in case of an emergency I'll even get one of those old ones where you turn a handle on top...

Right...
I will lose touch with a lot of friends when some cosmic or human event takes out the power. That would be bad. I can grow carrots on my back porch... I would have to name them and not eat them, though, to replace lost friends. Maybe I should start now, naming my houseplants... What kind of plant would you like as your namesake?

Well have a log fire in your garden Pat, but wait until it is warmer.
