It sounds like chess with a very interesting twist. Having the airbone, captured pieces return makes for lots of strategy, I am sure...That is a a lot of squid ink.

Oh, dear....I do so wish you hadn't used that word, "panic" describing them releasing the ink....I'm afraid I'll have dreams of screaming, panicked beaks squirting ink at me and poor Bliss will wake up flying through the air when all she was doing was her usual snuggling up to me for her nightly cuddle.  I was really doing fine, but that word just did it for me!  Until then, I was so enjoying imagining you showing them a thing or two for thinking they could easily pick up chess...attaboy!(but if I have a bad dream, you'll pay!)

i am so glad that they couldn't beat you at chess...I feel that you worked really hard on International relationships with these people.

Take away the squid ink and that ship wouldn't really look like a rusty old tub. but it isn't very large me thinks.

How interesting! I loved your insightful observation: "...certain skills do not that easily translate..." - how true!

Wow! I bet some of them went home and bought a chess set. I don't think that I could beat you at draughts, but I used to be pretty hairy at that game. What is that brown stuff? Waste from the squid processing?

If there'd been tuxedoed stewards serving snifters of brandy

these gaming sessions could have fit perfectly in a gentleman's club -- the old refined style, not the ones with stripper poles.
