Re: Krisles and Nautikos and All

Thank you for your kind thoughts! This happened in the '90s and I have healed. Once in a while I will feel a phantom pain where the worst of the pain had been. Gotta get better about stretching though!

OMG!  I came over to tell you how much I loved the poem, and I also love his voice.....and then I almost passed out with empathy at the incredible description of your accident!  FlipFlops are the devil's shoe for all kinds of reasons, anyway...but, this!  You poor thing! Do keep stretching the areas so scar tissue doesn't form any adhesions on you.

Re: Re: Nautikos

OMG! That sounds absolutely ghastly! I think the worst thing that ever happened to me was when I was t-boned by a pick-up truck - and I was riding my bicycle! But it wasn't as bad as this! I sure hope you have recovered from all that...

Re: C_C_T

Thank you! The things one must do to create a poem! Let's hope I don't hit a thumb!

Goodness what it takes to make poetry these days. You must be the bravest. Well perhaps you could hit a thumb and produce something nearly as delightful.

You do a great job describing the pain being felt that gives way to hope. Music touches our lives greatly.

Re: TAPS

Thank you! I enjoy his specials on PBS also. The why of this accident is explained to Nautikos (and all). Morale of this story: check sandals and flip-flops for tread and traction!

Re: Nautikos

Yes, I fell into our in-ground spa, which was dry at that time. I had been watering our rose garden, which was adjacent to the spa. Sampson, the GSD, had walked over to the spa, which he usually ignored, the why of which is another story, looked at me and tossed his chew toy in there. I had on "flip-flops" that had no traction on the bottom. Hose still in hand I washed the area down quickly and stepped onto the first stair to reach the toy. My body fell as the flip-flop slid, and I spiraled over sideways, catching head, shoulders, even thighs, along the way, as I tumbled like a rag doll into the pit of the spa. But that wasn't the worst of it. The agony was that as I began this fall on the spa stairway, because of gravity, etc., my body fell downward but my ribcage rose upward as ribs hit at an angle the second stair of the spa. Fractured ribs, heavy internal bruising, and it seemed that the cartilage also had separated from wherever it should have remained attached. Felt like a lung had collapsed also. ER was worthless. Said the bruising was too heavy to determine by the X-rays just how many ribs were broken or fractured! It was mid '90s; no CT or MRI there. And, to frost this pain cake, my doc was on Medical Leave! Took 3 months for me to heal. Whew! Long story, huh?

Great post/poem.  Thanks for the explanation at the bottom.
I love Botticeli's specials on PBS.

An excellent poem again, and I can certainly understand that Bocelli has a special meaning for you (I know that song too - he is singing it with Sarah Brightman), but from where in Heaven's name did you try to retrieve your doggie's toy? From the top of your roof? I constantly have to retrieve Ben's ball when he drops it to do some sniffing, but I have never ended up with life-threatening injuries...
