I think it is religion-neutral (my term) in some schools where I live; children may learn of different cultures, but do not celebrate religious holidays in class. It is not "Christmas vacation" for them, "but Winter break." And so it goes for everything from Halloween (no costumes, but a theme day where costumes are allowed, such as Pirate Day) to Easter (Spring break, which may or may not coincide with Easter). This is public grade school.

This has been brought up in Maryland, but the Muslims have not gained tractions for getting any of their holidays recognized. Hopefully, that doesn't happen.
