So many new topics to learn here. Squealing squid (who don't), exaulted fishmasters, communal tub-soaking (!), and we are once again "baited" as we wait to learn what seared your memory! Great fun to read!

Reading about this night, as you've related it in a surreal scene,

floating in a saucer of light in the midst of the night, the hard hat, hard metal deck and rails, the soft squishy squid... Great contrast. I'm just glad we can't smell it...

Well I suppose it was no worse than a lot of jobs Naut, one you were immersed in the project. One could understand why the previous scientist failed to make an impression.

I bet the first squeal unnerved the poor woman. I hope the water was warm in the bath.

It is wonderful how all of them are in it together. They truly are a team.

Can't wait to hear what happened in the communal tub.  I can't remember that from when I read this story long ago.

Nautikos

This is so great!  I hate cleaning fish, but haven't had to do it enough to really get used to it, and this sounds more like a hard working-adventure for you.  I have a good friend who spent every summer working on a dude ranch for several years and she had stories like this.

Great but now I am exhausted after all that work. And tell me, did you find much in the way of intestinal disease or bugs etc? Did you have to ensure that aquid of only a certain size were taken?

Will read your post later, but just wanted to tell you that your analytical reading skills have been honed quite well, as you must know, therefore; la poesia del soldato era una metafora, ma...e stato anche scritto con veri soldati in mente! Well done.
