No one worships Socrates,  but his biographies are generally of a worshiping nature.  Other than historians,  no one cares about Socrates,  yet many of the liberal persuasion share key parts of his philosophy.  That was my only point here.  Socrates was merely the first 'celebrity' to have that very common (and wrong) philosophy.

TAPS,  you should be honored that so many people value your opinion and want to influence it.  Maybe I have given you some ammo to fire back with, LOL.

I ended up with two 'hosts' - unintended but somehow appropriate, LOL...

LOL! In a ‘normal’ world, the world we had become used to, a world in which the Islamic genie was kept in the bottle, I would be bored silly thinking of Muslims, nor would I have dreamt of boring others with such thoughts...Unfortunately the Genie has escaped and is wreaking havoc, even though people are either too blind to see it or they're not willing to acknowledge what they see, for a host a host of reasons. And that’s why I shall keep writing of Islam, and what is happening 'out there'. Future historians will judge this crucial era, and how they will judge it will depend on us…And I shall get back to you on Socrates…

Interesting reading.  You have put a lot of work into this.  I'm not really up to a long comment on this.  I am often bombarded by liberal members of my extended family who think they are being very witty in being sarcastic toward those conservative family members and hope I will join them in their opinions.  The opposite os also true.  How can this be.

So I have never worshipped at the feet of Socrates, or any particular philosopher...and you had one line I highlighted but will wait to paste until the end because I can never get it to stop typing in the same dang font afterwards.  Anyway, I agree totally with your conclusion and much of what I would probably say here is in a post I've got bouncing around in my head so I'm trying to mentally edit as I type but in general, I'll just say I've experienced several times in my life when I've wanted to scream at people asking me why so and so did this or that (tried to kill themselves, usually)...like there is ONE reason anyone does anything....no, there isn't!..... and thinking we can figure out why people decide to go shoot up a classroom....or go blow up their office....or turn into a radical Muslim all or a sudden from something they read on the internet....NO, we are not going to figure out what in their heads, in their lifetime experiences we could have affected by this back and forth national debate.  They have to and will make personal choices.  We have to make choices.  We don't live in the Wild West....but we don't live in Woodstock ........and we don't live in post-9/11 anymore.......we live in 2016 and people are Social Media is where people seem to be getting their jihad on.  And across the Pond, Europe isn't looking like it always has.....why is that?  Just ask yourself.
