I had 2 sons join the service and that was the thing I feared most of all

Re: I don't wish

I don't wish war upon anyone. Lucky for me this poem isn't tru. I made it up. But. unluckily, it is true for many people. And for them I pray!

For those who have suffered this, I cry. For those who wish peace, I hope...

Re: Re: Thank you.

It is really well done. I figured that you were feeling great pain.

I hope the future never places you in this position. Although wars seem inevitable.

That is so sad, all of it except the last line.
How proud of him you must be.  How you must miss him.
My grandson was deployed two times to Afghanistan.
I am so glad he is home, safe and sound, but
I feel so badly about his closest friend who is not.
He was their only child, killed by a sniper.
They came to Peter's welcome home party
and hugged Peter as if he was their son.

Re: Thank you.

Thank you, Kabu. But, thankfully this never happened. Regretfully, This happens to many people and that is a horible fact.

Old men make war and youngsters fight them. I hate war. This is beyond sad and I am sorry.
