An excellent analysis of some critical differences between Christianity and Islam! It also deserves more than a brief comment and I feel it bit guilty for not being able to provide that at the moment, being preoccupied with other matters. But I shall get to it, especially that whole God - Satan dichotomy, for which I already have some notes...

God is love. Jesus is God.

Yes,  this is a mental exercise.....  but then,  mental exercise is very important,  and it can create reality.  I DO think that if Jesus had gone to Mecca,  he had the capability to plant the seeds of truth,  love,  goodness and wisdom there,  to defuse the future bomb of Islam that we are dealing with today.  I DO think that Jesus could have pre-empted the rise of Islam,  and that would have been a very good thing to do.  I think it is a great tragedy that Jesus did not go to Mecca.  So part of what I am doing is trying to figure out why that did not happen,  why obvious strategies that we humans can figure out,  are not taken by God.  We can throw up our hands and say that it is all a great mystery,  or we can roll up our sleeves and try to solve the puzzle.

I'm sorry I didn't make my comment clear in that I realized you weren't suggesting anything other than a change in timing and I guess I simply felt, as I read, that had He gone to Mecca and so on, as you described, everything else would have been different, too....and there would have been a completely different unrolling of circumstances - one of those mental exercises, I know....

Thanks

Thanks to all for your comments.  There was a limited scope to this post,  but of course the resurrection of Jesus was the necessary outcome of his martyrdom,  to give the greatest proof of his divinity.  We would not have much of a Christian religion,  if Jesus had not resurrected and returned to show himself to his disciples.  I just wish he would have stuck around with us  "in the flesh"  a few more years,  or decades,  either before or after his resurrection.  I am sure his disciples felt the same way.  As for my idea of Jesus going to Mecca, using human 20/20 hindsight,  that would have required divine 20/20 foresight six centuries into the future.  I am perfectly comfortable with a God who does not have such a capability,  and I do not fault or disrespect in the slightest degree.  Just seeking possible limits..... like in my other blog.

You have done a great job showing the differences between the two.

That's quite a comparison.  I am so thankful that I was not born into the muslim religion.

I enjoyed this post and I would only disagree in that I think that the Trinity is an essential part of faith for many Christians, the Resurrection, etc.  You seem to accept the wisdom of Jesus' plan to a point and then lose trust in the most critical part of His story.....I say, hindsight is always 20/20 so I don't think I would be so sure of what the alternative actions would have yielded,  and I think the results have been pretty remarkable , but that's JMHO

Great Post. Thankyou.

Your writings about the teachings of Jesus is why I believe that one day the earth will return to the days of Eden when there was harmony between all cratures including humans. If we accept that Jesus taught us to love everyone as we love ourselves there has to be Peace on earth.
