Well I thought it was a well known sea man's curse to have a woman abroad. I bet the squid felt rather embarrassed . At least you knew your personality was not the reason.

I don't like streaks, esp. unknown, questionable streaks.  I'm a bit squeamish about that.

Oh, that is right. Janet was miffed that her friend did not work out onboard the vessel because she was a woman, something that was going to be obvious from the get go. I enjoy reading this series again, Naut.

Nautikos

That sounds like the same craziness that seems to be behind the recent announcement that women are going to be allowed, if they qualify, in all branches of the military - even the super tough ones where physical attributes most definitely come into play.  Now, I do not care if there are a few women in this country who can qualify...I'm happy for them, and understand if they have dreamed all their lives of being able to say that they achieved that goal.....but there are the realities of the conditioning of too many, the realities of the majority....policies should not be based on a few, it's ludicrous; especially when the pitfalls are so potentially dangerous...or, as in your situation, cause such ridiculous discomfort to so many for  some possible benefit to one.

Well, Dear Janet, the battle of the sexes is fought on more than one front.

And it seems ya win some, and ya lose some. I now have to wonder about those streaks...

Yes - that is what I did remember. Yea! My memory is still working some! I don't however, remember the streaks on the boat that seemed to be rust....

Oh dear talk about being dropped in it...both the poor girl sent out first and then you to be somehow at fault because you are male.

No, not the way to try to reach equality between the sexes. I am sure it was a miserable trip for everyone. But everything will change now.
