Nautikos

Here is what is fascinating about your critique, that I  "treat the protagonists as so 'concretely real' that they become a bit like marionettes..."

That actually tells me that I am achieving my goal,  to some extent.  I am trying to describe or discover the parameters of moral behavior of superior spiritual beings  (their philosophy),  which before this are always described as mysterious and unknowable.

But if we knew enough actual facts about God and Satan,  their actual capabilities,  their actual moral principles,  etc.,  then their actions would become understandable and even predictable.

It is kind of like learning computer software.....  if you know the code that was written and is being followed,  if you know the power and memory size,  then you can understand what the computer has done and will do.....  a poor example but the best I could think of at the moment.  Philosophy is like software,  the software of the universe.  Done properly,  philosophy is the science of the mind.

I understand your objections.  But actually,  I am indeed diligently searching for reasons to have faith,  to believe,  not searching for reasons to disbelieve  (like Nautikos, LOL)

Nautikos and the Greek gods

I thought you would enjoy my comparison of the battle of Job with the shenanigans of the mythical Greek gods of Olympus..... you have expressed your affinity for them..... I put that in there just for you,  LOL

Thanks for your compliments.  I was hoping that you would enjoy my story.  In response to your comment,,,,,

"It is exceedingly well argued, but seems to treat the protagonists as so 'concretely real' that they become a bit like marionettes..."

.....I should say this:  When one gets close to the truth,  the truth becomes like concrete,  solid and dependable.  Much like science.....

And we are all puppets,  even God and Satan.....  you just have to be really sure where the strings are coming from  (hint:  moral philosophy).

Very interesting speculation.  Don't forget how much faith, simple faith, counts in the whole plan of God.  Both Abraham and Job believed God and He counted it to them for righteousness.  As it is indicated in the scriptures repeatedly that there are problem areas in the scriptures put there on purpose that we cannot totally prove to give those who do not want to believe, a reason not to do so.

I too shall do as you suggest. But I can already tell you this - I am really very impressed with this work, even if I do not accept the basic premise. It is exceedingly well argued, but seems to treat the protagonists as so 'concretely real' that they become a bit like marionettes...I have made some notes of fundamental questions I would raise, and might even bring them up in a post...

This series about Job is finished.  Now you can go back and read the whole thing,  if you are up to it,  if you want to slog through it, LOL
