Actually you have given the best that you can already, in spreading happiness for others at Christmas. So doing you have lifted your own Spirit. Give what you can and expect nothing and you will have a happy Christmas. You are a lesson to us all.

I understand totally!
But you found the true spirit of Christmas, and every person that was touched by each act of yours was reminded how lovely that can be!

Yes well one has to try to muddle through Pat. People seem pleased to get a little gift perhaps it feels like their childhood has bee revisited. Someone has just brought me a heavy cake, probably be nice boiled with cream.

I've had a harder time getting the holiday spirit than usual this year, too........and I was telling a friend last night that it seems women often have to 'get it together' for the sake of kids at this time of year, no matter what is going on for them personally, because it means so much to the kids....... and we can't let them down. Well, your post reminds us that we can 'get it together' for ourselves, too.....and that it's important to do so. Thanks for that.....and Merry Christmas.
