Things are no longer made to last and progress is so advanced that by the time a product hits the market they have already improved and updated that prior product obsolete

You are so right on. They are missing out on much - a pity.

History is dying as a subject because an arts degree is useless in this modern World. That breaks my heart. There really is no time for anything but the latest gadget and the only real jobs available seem to be in engineering.

good post luv.

There is so much here to chew on.

I relate to your frustration on several of your topics.

My grama was born in 1923.  She died early this year.  She never had a computer or a cell phone.  The most technological advancement she ever touched was an Atari game console and a phone with touch tone dial instead of the old school rotary dial.  She used to complain about technology.  I never understood why.  I thought she was just stubborn.  Funny, I've become alot like that old goat (I say fondly) as I live inside this world of technological advancement.  Facebook turns my stomach.  I've never touched an iapple anything.  I consider cell phones and the majority of content on the internet to be tools of the devil.   And I still use my dogs as a security system for my home.  I'm having a hard time fitting into this self-absorbie, hurry up and fix me cult we call a universe.  I can't fully get on board with the technological team concept.  I realize there is no I in TEAM, but guess what, there is an I in TIME and these days, what I can do with my time is more important to me than aligning with the masses.   There's my two cents though it's probaly worth less due to inflation these days!  Wink - Kiss - Flower - Thumbs up to you for this post!

Krisles

Sometimes it seems to me you can type faster than I can think, LOL..There's a lot here that could fill books...But let me get back to only one point, one that I believe to be fundamental - the deterioration of our education system, which you allude to at the end, when you write, "...because most haven’t been educated about world history or to think about multiple philosophical consequences themselves, and many view Westerners as aggressors who have brought all this on ourselves."

Being fairly well acquainted with our field of educaion, on both sides of the fence, I know of its many dry patches, of the fallow stretches, of the expanses of poison ivy...I am not the only one who bemoans the lack of knowledge of history among the current generation, and the way a subliminal message of the 'wicked West' has taken hold, which is the other side of the refusal to judge evil, as long as it isn't our evil, LOL...

There is definitely a negative side to all of the technology. We have really lost a lot of personal interaction. It does mostly happen on a phone, but it's not the same as talking to a person. And of course, when one is on a phone, they ignore the people right in front of them. I do not see that getting better.

Well you are the Kiddy K. I think I would rather adhere to your explanations than try to fudge ones of my own.

I must admit that I'm not answering polls.....and I don't know anything about Star Wars either.  Son asked me this evening, "What do you get if you cross a robot with a jar of mustard?"
"Silver and Blue Poupon?" I asked.
"That's close," he said, "R2-Dijon is the correct answer."
