What a history they have, the gypsies! I'm glad you gave them some holly. Another telling poem - enjoyed Pat-B's answer too.

Re:

Goodness Taps she must have been desperate. Funnily enough many of the gipsies have married local partners and only we with the blood can tell them apart.

Re: Krisles

Well K I don't mind who has the holly, but Archie who helps me at times is like a bull dog after a bone. It is a job to keep everyone happy. Glad you liked the advertisement.

If a Gypsy wants something, he/she is going to get it.  In my Grandmother's day in Bohemia, it was the saurkraut.  Grandma came in from the wheat-field harvesting to find a gypsy woman with a baby under one arm and her other arm in the saurkraut barrel shoveling it with her hand from the barrel into the full-length pockets of her flowing skirt.  When the towns people went after her she took her own baby and swung it by the ankles around as her weapon.  No one wanted to hurt the baby so she got away.

I don't understand what the deal is with the holly?  Why aren't they gypsies supposed to have it?  That aside, I love, love, love this poem....it's definitely going in my collection!

Re: Bill

Well they usually cut hands and blend the blood Bill. Well they did with my father. I don't remember if he kissed the gypsy girls, but probably.

Thank you Justi. Yes Archie once worked for me when he was about twelve, so I know him quite well.

Re: FS

Yes the Gypsies have become almost unrecognizable having married into the house people at times. Only those blessed with the blood can spot them.

That is interesting about the gypsies...It can be tough to mend a broken heart.

I hate to see broken hearts. I simply love this poem. You do have so much fun running Archie around don't you?

Your post woke me up... Here's what came of it.

Poor little lies to avoid distress
to keep relationships from a mess
just a white lie, barely even a fib
to keep things all on an even jib.

But if a tangled web we weave
when e'er we practice to deceive
the truth will out, it's always so.
Don't ask me how it is I know.
