Stuck on the disarming part...

You are absolutely correct in that what we are seeing is not racism.  It's a deluded and misuse of perceived power by individuals who lack hindsight and experience.  I bet that for most invovled this is likely the first band wagon jumping they've entertained.  But bless those kids' hearts who believe they are fighting the good fight and doing something instead of nothing.  I won't take that part away from them.

I have a 21 year old daughter and 23 year old son.  My little Dick and Jane grew up a part of the entitlement and self-absorbie generation discussed in your post.  HOWEVER, they did not buy into the entitlement or self-absorbie concepts that so many college age students (and kids their age) these days did.

I've got to admit that if my kid were the one offering no better an arguement than "if you value me you would disarm others" that I'd be the mom on tv yanking his butt off the entitlement stage.

Nautikos

I actually had written a rather long comment, got interrupted and thought I saved it until  I could put the finishing touches on it...but now I can't find it! Dang it...I'm quite sure it's the most brilliant thing I've ever concocted!!!LOL!  Anyway, I am one of those friends...as you well know, who loves it when you use your own voice...AND AM PROUD TO PROCLAIM IT!!!!....because you are such a BRILLIANT WRITER, so cut the crap with the excuses!  But, that aside, this was also good info so I'll quit bitching.....my question is: Where are the parents?  Are they so glad to get a break from these brats that they are happy to just pay the tuition and hope the college admin groups just continue to be spineless wimps?  Well, when there aren't enough public sector and family business and government candy jobs to go around, and these no-nothing grads are not able to cut it in the real world and have to come home to roost....well....HA!HA!  Only problem is, they are all - parents and kids - going to be voting with their pointed heads......

I must admit your post is educational. (pun intended, sorry about that)

in that I learned something new about "higher" education. I had the wrong idea about its purpose and what I was there to do. I thought I was to learn how to function at a higher level, and to earn a certificate to demonstrate to potential employers that I was educable. Apparently I shoulda thrown a huge tantrum with a hundred other malcontents, and only quit kicking my feet and pounding my fists when someone came across with a bribe. Too late now, I'm already addicted to earning my way..
