Thank you, all, who have commented below -

What a tough, tough world we live in.  We fight to bend without breaking and yet, only from breaking do we make true progress.

Well, I have to admit that as I was reading I was wondering why you weren't heading out the door with your phone in hand, to see what was going on and call the cops if they were needed....I wasn't wondering it in a judgemental way, but just because that's how I react to things.  I have always been a take action kind of person.....it is quite literally impossible for me to do nothing.  That said, none of us knows what we would do in any given situation when faced with it.  But if we don't at least think about it, think about the possibilities, mentally rehearse for the realities of the world we live in, we for sure wouldn't be prepared....so kudos to you for this post.  We all need to be as mentally prepared as possible for ANY possibility.

I know exactly what you are talking about. Domestic troubles leave a large number of people dead yearly. I can only say I would have called the cops after the second scream. I try to do what is right in as much as I know right and I am for stepping in and helping my neighbor unless he will not or cannot see any but his own way. You are simply human as are we and are accustomed to such, get accustomed it is about to be common place. Bless you dear you were concerned.

WL

I do understand your reaction - regrettable as it is, it has become a commonplace - 'don't get involved'...We see people turning a blind eye even when someone gets murdered in the street, for crying out loud...You ask, "What would you have done?"  Well, at the very least I would have been on the blower, calling the cops...Incidentally, I notice that same 'I don't wanna get involved' attitude right here in Blogitville when I am writing about the Islamic disease...

I don't think that you are much different than most. I am sure that if anyone was attacking your hubby or even your dog you would fight tooth and nail to help them.

We all have this self preservation kink, possibly it can be broken by events that happen immediately. I expect most have the dormant thoughts of recent tragedies floating around ,it does not help,

I find that a lot of people as well stay in their happy bubbles, too. It seems like we are at a point of helplessness where we do not know what to do.
