Re:Aniccita

Yes they feel more secure saving than spending A. Can you spare a dollar?

Re: Taps

Yes it would be a great idea Taps, but I have put forth one or two feelers in a local blog and feel that only a few would participate. Not many have the inclination or idea of how to present such a project. Ask them about Coronation Street and they know everyone.

Re Ciel

Yes I could see him lingering Ciel, always a bit of a shock though. I think you are right about money some hate parting with it, but it usually ends up in someone else's new cars.

Re: I know you will miss Smokey Joe, and I'm sorry for your loss,

Thank you Pat, one tries not to think about it too much. Yes habits die hard. Well I wouldn't like to upset the gentlemen.

I know you will miss Smokey Joe, and I'm sorry for your loss,

but I agree it is good that he did not suffer and linger. Very good writing about the habits of thrift and the way oldsters manage their time. Touches the very chord. As for the poem, nicely stirring. it should be set to music and sung to an audience of sweethearts - in a room with subdued lighting.

CCT

Sorry to hear about Smokey Joe's passing! And the poem provides a counterpoint...

My sympathies for the loss of your friend, CCT. Yes - there are so many lonely people in this world - the Beatles coined it with their song Eleanor Rigby. You poem is lovely and sensual!

Sorry to hear about Smokey Joe,

but, also glad that he slid out quickly and easily.

"Stone soup" thinking can be a habit hard to break, and kids raised in hard times probably never feel as secure about spending money as those who have always had enough or more.

Going from my own experiences with Blogit, I think older folk, from the time they retire from regular employ, should be encouraged to write of their life's experiences in groups, to encourage and entertain one another.  Pat-B is doing something like that with her volunteer library work.  I think it is great.
