A Reasonable Religion...
Am not so sure Reason and Religion are a compatible mix. I was always taught that one must come to religion and accept it "as a little child"; otherwise we cannot refer to it as "faith".

Al-Khatib is very wise, and in the end, she is correct that Islam will become extinct if it does not reform. Just as you feel, though, until that happens, there is going to be a lot more bloodshed. Hopefully, the push for Islam to reform will grow.

It would sound hopeless if we hadn't witnessed in our own culture how very fast things can change....it seems like almost overnight - how quickly I feel like I've stepped out into a completely different world than the one I grew up in. It is never too late to start...... that has got to be the message to the Muslim community.....and they have got to be the ones to start.

It sounds rather hopeless doesn't it, and the fact that it did not emerge out of a void makes it all more hopeless by far.
