April 10th 1945...the war in Europe was not quite over, but close. Rationing meant that it was difficult for Mother to buy what she needed for the baby. Luckily she had a three year old, girl and had kept all the clothes and furniture.

What a wonderful idea, especially because I have an old newspaper from April 11, 1936, I could post for days. You're like a lightbulb went on love.

I know what was happening at my time of birth Pat. My dad was cutting hay into chaff
for the horse. He was listening though for the women to shout it was over,
I hate public conveniences where one can get splashed, about time new types
were on the drawing board.

For some reason your post here got me googling and I ended up reading a wonderful little story about Otto Funk, the little man (5 foot two and 100 lbs) who walked all the way from NY to SF, 4,165 miles, playing his fiddle every step of the way.

Thinking about the first part of your post - one could turn that around and ask, 'What was not going on at the time of your birth'...a change in perspective, LOL...And of course toilet paper ribbon-cutting lightens things nicely...
