Yes that's all very well but you could always refresh yourselves in Wiley's Creek.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Kabu

There weren't any puddles, it was all dry dust and it wasn't crockery. It was Mum's tin thimble.

Re: Re: Re: Kabu

Well how extravagant we used to drink from puddles all the crockery was in the pawn shop. we even had to milk pigeons if we could afford a tea bag.

Re: Just adding your dentist sounds as though she is kind

Yes she is the nicest one I have ever been too Kat. Most are really miserable. Sadly flowers will soon be caught by a frost, but we keep picking.

Re: Annicita

Annicita we were much poorer than Kabu. We had to walk halfway to school and then lend our siblings our shoes and she owned a cup how extravagant.

Re: Re: Kabu

Boo Hoo I don't believe you were ever that poor...Now as for me I had to walk 10 miles up hill both to school and back in 110F heat and we had so little water that we had to share a 1/4 cup between us.

Re: Pat

The problem of growing older is one needs more maintenance to function effortlessly.

I am sure my house was built over a deep pit which we dug as kids. When it was built one of the laborers said the ground seemed soft so they would put irons in with the foundation. I often wonder if one day I might hear a creak and have a lopsided house.

Re: adnohr

Hi adnohr we should have all bought more houses when we could not afford them.

Goodness I remember a thatched cottage £200 Job to get a good Hoover for that now.

Yes I should have written more poems when I was deserted by most, but as you know not many like to visit if one is looking after someone who has lost it.

Re:Katray

Yes Kat one can get treated very cheaply if one is on benefits or can find a National Health dentist? They soon get fed up and go private. Yes housing is a lot cheaper up North. It is the work that drives the prices up in an area and a lot of folk who have money buy the village houses as second homes. It is tough on the youngsters in the villages as there is no way they can afford a mortgage.Once council houses were built for the younger folk.Unmarried young girls twigged that, thought it was a good way to get a house by becoming pregnant. It does not seen so popular now.

Re: Kabu

Yes I know Kabu. My mother fed Arthur cat food until she realized it was not salmon the labels were missing. I had to wear an old lady's vests and we ate squirrels. I suppose those expensive Marino blankets made us poor, but when one cannot afford a fire.

Dental work is really pricey here but you can still find affordable,

reasonably priced housing in some states in the U.S. if you look in bland, boring locales, lol. Like where I live in the Mid West; small towns and rural areas far away from any natural or scenic attributes. Also none to be found in the big cities with their variety of exciting events, museums, parks and/or historical places. Nice thoughts about helping the woman. Beautiful poem too!

Reading about the amount of hair you have had me laughing out loud...A nice job with the poem there.

Oh, dear, I know i'm past due for the dentist, but I've divorced

my old one - his wife/practice manager/receptionist ruined the place from the standpoint of customer service. Witch would be a term of flattery for her.  Home prices are high here, too and I could not pull together the 20% down payment on anything I'd live in, so it's lucky all I have to do is keep this one patched together until....

Your poems say so much - can mean different things to different people I guess. Yes, Kabu is right - houses are expensive here, and then there is the upkeep. DOctor appointments are the same unless one pays, and it doesn't matter where one lives - money is always needed.

I shouldn't think that you would have much spare cash to help anyone after a trip to the dentist.

And unless you want to live in the Boonies or above the tree line in Canada, housing is expensive here too....and if you can get a Dr. one waits here for an appointment as well.

life has always been miserable for the poor.
