Re: Hemingway

Annicita, can you remember the name of film to which you refer?  There is new film

out (May, this year) totally filmed on location in Cuba, called "Papa".  Is that the one you are talking about?  Thanks.

Re: Hemingway

Thanks, Taps, for your response.  It seems the author's real life was as exciting as his novels.  What a character!

PP

A great poem - I love it! It takes me back to my 'Hemingway days', many years ago when I think I read everything he has ever written. Did you know that he lived here in Toronto during the early twenties and wrote columns for the Toronto Star, that I have also read?

This is fantastic.  I kind of associate with this because I was in Pamplona where Hemingway kept a flat with a balcony above the plaza and the Running of the Bulls.  It was fun to picture him up there waving a red bandana and shouting olé.

Re: Hemingway

I missed the movie.  Will have to find it and watch.

Re: Hemingway

Thanks for the comment, BC-A.  He would have been an interesting person to know and socialize with.

I like the Hemingway imagery a lot.

I use pencil or pen when away from the computer or feeling like connecting more with nature.  I remember watching the movie with Chris O"Donnell about Hemmingway.  Sad story

Re: Hemingway

I have written 'miles' in my lifetime...notes all over the place; not that it has helped my attempts at creative writing.  I think I just like to write.

But I can't imagine Hemingway writing an entire novel out in pencil and then having someone else type it up!

Re: Hemingway

Thanks, BC-A.  I did some reading about his history before writing it.  I think he must have been full of life.  What a character!  I remember reading an aubiography of some famous person in show business who knew him pretty well.  He was a lady's man.

Lauren Bacall once visited him at his home for a few days. I don't know what the wife thought about that!  I think they were just 'friends' but I'm sure Hemingway made an attempt at something more.

I like this poetry Jackie, I suppose some of us acquire knowledge with age. Or it just accumulates if one has the power to exploit memory. Sadly I can never read my own writing so it is not much use writing anything down.

The poem captures Hemingway.
