I like the sound chimes make. They are so soothing to the ears. I remember when my cousin was a baby she loved the sound of the chimes my grandmother had.

Now how did you guess that I would read to the very end K. Perhaps we have too much Ivy here so I will live with what grows naturally because the birds use it as shelter in a Hawthorne tree. I also have an invasive red creeper it used to cover the stone cottages next door. It was cut down,but little pieces still climb up and try to cover my greenhouse.
I like the idea of chimes, but I don't think one could hear them through double glazed windows and we rarely get days where there is a warm breeze , It is either hot and still or chilly.

There are carillon bells played here from a church across the lake and woods. The sound carries well if you are outside or have the windows open. I just love it.

I love chimes...Your 'finger-in-the-water' simile is very apt - but one might also compare our lives to the fleeting sound of wind-stirred chimes...

It is your place and you must have what plants you love. I never plant to please anyone but us. LOl
Actually I cannot have Jasmine or Daphne around because It puts me in hospital....but I can enjoy thinking about your Jasmine from here. I too love chimes, we have a set outside our bedroom window and they are the best to go to sleep with.
