No.....as I've lived in different areas, though, I still see a lot of 'culture clusters' and I see the same thing in the large lunch room when I work.  As already mentioned, "birds of a feather" does seem to be a somewhat natural, and I think understandable, action which is how that saying came into being.

No, it does not surprise me. People have a way of being able to move to practically anywhere.

There used to be separate and distinct ethnic areas in Kansas City, but that was long ago.  Now everyone lives anywhere and no one thinks anything about it.

Birds of a feather flock together...only makes sense. I've been the only Aussie here now for 8 years, feel totally at home...but I am sure that if it was a much different society from where I came from..it would feel different.
