I used to work in the City Clerk's office, same building as the firehouse
here in Mundane - those firefighters were macho brothers, pranking and teasing during the long duty hours when there was no emergency - but when the chips are down and the stuff hits the fan, they go all in, betting their lives to keep others safe. Hat's off!
