Re:

Well said, Kabu! The bloody histories of other countries are too often overlooked. Europe has not been a model of human rights or equality and even had a recent crisis because of greed and corruption - Greece. Yes, the Far Right makes me uneasy too..Thank you for reading and commenting.

The History of Europe is not one of continuous Peace but more one of any excuse to destroy minority groups, to rob their neighbors of land. Rape Pillage and an indecent amount of hate. The Far right concerns me. As I have said; fanatical views are almost always  carry the danger of safety for different thinking people...as does blind and ignorant fear.

Re:

When people's incomes/standards of living aren't doing well, I think people like Hungary's pm and Sanders, Trump gains traction. Massive numbers of people pouring into Europe is a big strain on resources, at least initially so imo that's why steps such as border controls have recently been deemed necessary to manage the situation as much as it can be managed. I understand the need for management and feel in time, most people will assimilate and make positive contributions to their adopted homelands. The majority of folks worldwide want to not suffer from war ravages and horrors or hunger or lack of shelter and healthcare, they want decent jobs, their children educated and thriving - they want to live in peace and to prosper. If the majority were not so like minded, all of us would be barely existing in constant chaos, deadly poverty and terror.

No matter how much I read on this subject, it seems that nothing ever changes for the better.  I guess it never will.

A very interesting article, indeed. What strikes me most is the talk of those Populist governments because in America, right now, Populists Sanders and Trump are doing very well in the polls.
