I really got into reading this one. Everything in it was interesting. You certainly described that tree well. If I had any idea at all about what the tree happened to be, I would not have had any trouble at all identifying it by your description.

Personally I would find a million reasons Not to leave such a haven...such a place of peace and beauty.

That certainly sounds like a beautiful and interesting tree! If you posted a picture of it here, maybe a knowledgable Blogitville citizen could identify it - though don't count on me for that.
I have my own tree problems right now - I am about to lose my magnificent, double-trunked maple, because it is too close to my house and its roots are threatening to break into my basement...
