I did great in arithmatic but once I moved into algebra, geometry, etc., I hated math..... and it was because of the teachers - all coaches, all resented teaching classes and had no patience with anyone who wasn't a 'natural' at the subject

If a teacher acts as though you should already understand, they cannot teach that subject. A terrible class to endure.

I had a mix of teachers too and math was/is not my strong suit either..:)
The best usually do rise to the top...

I had both good teachers and bad. The worst teacher I ever had was high school American History teacher. I did not learn one single thing from him. Everything I learned about American History was from reading on my own. One of the best teachers I had was World History. She made me want to learn about American History.
