You aren't alone CCT. That's a story I hear from a lot of people. It's also kind of odd. In many ways I'm still a writer surrounded by people who don't like to read.

Fortunately I have long lost the anticipated thrill of writing for cash or prestige.
My brother does say I am the laziest person in the world, so that is the reason I guess.

when something is there and it visits from time to time, perhaps becoming more frequent as time gors by...I find it is a story demanding to be told.
I started my favorite book, Tom Ugly, here on Blogit and it took some years of editing and improving to get it out on Amazon. I always thank Blogit for helping me to write the skeleton of the story, to get it on the way.
