Pat
When I read your post, it occurred to me that someone should do ('write') a book on the cultural changes that have occured/are still occurring as the result of people's abandoning handwriting and replacing it with 'word processing'...

I used to write everything in long hand and then transfer it to the computer, doing an edit as I went. It was such a long tome before IZ could keyboard and think. Actually when I think back, it wasn't a bad way to write at all.

Sometimes if I think of a poem I jot it down Pat. Once I would just remember it ,but I lost that ability years ago. The trouble is I have a job to read my own writing and grumble at myself for not being neater.

I like that. I have always enjoyed writing with a pen in longhand. I do hate having to print though. Hand writing is so peaceful, and it gives one plenty of time to think. My favorite pen for writing is a Zebra F-301.
