I have noticed that, too, with the newbies. Last year, I felt the problem with newbies was more with us collectively not reading them. I remember UtahJay bringing that up. Now, though, we are going out and seeking out those people to read for a time at least.
Things do have a way of working out.

I read your (and the posts of many) nearly everyday, CCT, but have hardly any free time - so rarely make comments at the present on any one post. Here you are right - it was too funny to keep from saying something!

Perhaps we try to be too clever when writing poems Taps. One sometimes falls into the trap of writing for oneself. Of course then most folk don't know what one is on about.

Thank you I remember hesitatingly sending my first poem to Blogit and this beautiful and handsome couple replied almost before I could recover from the trauma.Seriously though I have tried to comment on dozens of blogs from newbies but I think most compare this site to F.B with Angel wings.

A long time ago, there was a sort of greeting blog for new members
and if memory serves, it explained that reading and commenting on other writers was a good way to get your work noticed. Blogit has tips too for writers that explain this. Anyway, your poem is a very enjoyable read, C C T. Inner thoughts, external experiences contrast and blend nicely and a feeling of hat tipping the ladies whilst maybe trying to hide from them flows through...:)

I like to think that all your poetic stories of courtship and curiousity
are speculation, conjecture and wishful thinking, but now and then I can't help believing there's a gold nugget of truth glowing at the heart of it all.

actually this is one poem I have kept because it is delicious...
I have tried to explain to many newbies about commenting to others but some just don't seem able to manage so of course they leave.Pity. Some are good writers.

I read whoever reads me, plus a few newbies now and again. Newbies can figure it out for themselves just as I had to.I don't comment to just comments anymore much, just now and again. I enjoyed the poem Bro.

I loved the poem...will read it again, probably outloud to myself. I love good poems read outloud. Takes me back to my Dad reading poems like The Walrus and the Carpenter.
