Oh I think this is a remarkable story. Yes giving them to the Historical society would be great. They were real treasures to someone at sometim.

Sometimes as you suggest these records do not appeal to young people, but they might be a bit squeamish throwing them away. If I were a detective I would try to remember who came in on the days when the books were found. It might be a neighbour doing someone a good turn.
