i really enjoyed this post, not the fact that it caused you pain, but the lesson that sometimes its not about the pain but the rather about the joys in life. sometimes we do not really embrace the joys, unless we know the pain......i dare say you would do it all again. so many of us never get the chance to relive something of the past that we loved. and the toe will be your reminder of it for awhile, lol. you probably never felt that alive in awhile, and the pain was the proof.

Find out those old footer shoes Naut. Next time be well prepared, last week I couldn't help hollering a loud swear word as the chiropodist tugged the final bit of ingrowing toe nail from its root.

actually this one I do agree with Naut. on and in Australia dear Ann would be breaking the law by driving with bare tootsies. (Feet)LOL.

FSI, I was a bit shocked when I read your sister Ann drives barefoot! I do a lot of things barefoot (I even kick soccer balls I know I shouldn't kick wearing deck shoes, LOL), but I would never, ever drive barefoot!
I will be blunt - it's utterly stupid to do that! It fails to take into account something we know or should know by the time we're old enough to drive - that even a little pain can result in involuntary reactions, and you don't want to have any involuntary reactions in your feet when you're driving! A small slip, a little bending of a toe in quickly moving the foot from the gas pedal to the brake - do I need to describe the possible scenarios in detail? I urge you, the loving brother, to convince Ann of immediately quitting something she should not be proud of doing...

I have had a few times where I should have listened to the inner voice...I hope your big toe is feeling better...My sister Ann likes to drive barefoot (a skill I have never felt comfortable enough initially doing to where I would try to master). She says it is starting to hurt her right foot.
