Ç Moist areas of vegetation but we need it so have repellent handy. There are electronic devices. I used one on my patio love. BC-A, Bill’s Roost

I haven't been spending any time this summer in the yard and gardens of Son #3 because I just cannot handle mosquito bites. Too bad. I really like it over there.

They've been talking West Nile Virus here in town. Makes the
wily mosquito an even more irritating and dangerous pest. We have purple martins in this area, great insect hunters that come out in flocks at dusk. Morning glories used to be considered pests when I lived in Seattle, very invasive and will take over and crowd out things you've planted. But I always thought they were gorgeous.

Hardly ever see one Ciel but we do get clouds of gnats. They can breed quickly in water tubs. Your Morning Glory is taking its time, I picked the first runner beans yesterday. My brother said they were a bit coarse . As I told him one does not pick baby beans this early in the season. The neighbours are already asking if there are any.

As is so much the case with many forms of life, mosquitoes too seem to come in cycles. We're having a wet summer as well, but I don't think I've seen one mosquito in my backyard - mind you, we do have quite a few birds! But there aren't even many in the woods around here...

Have you thought about a bat house?
They're pretty cool - and they keep the bats out of the attic.
