And someday, when something messes up the electronic world,
reading maps and knowing how to refold them may just be in vogue again!

you should write about those maps....maybe poem or short story....keep them and pass them down as a bit of history

I do use a GPS. It has worked out well for me. Most of the time, I use it to see what it states my arrival time is to be, and I aim to beat it.

Well, nobody seems to like the thing, so let me be the dissenting voice - I do like it and find my GPS very useful! By finding the quickest routes to whereever I'm going it's saving me money on gas, and I actually like Thelma's voice, even if she's a bit of a nag sometimes and can't pronounce 'North' - she keeps saying something that sounds like 'Wood'...

Well funnily enough there is one in my old car, but it got on my nerves keep rabbiting on about every little roundabout or by-road. So I don't go anywhere that I do not remember going to before.

Re: Kabu
I like that answer....something more to programme, to mount, to follow directions, to try to understand. (Sounds like a husband to me) What's a cellular dead zone? LOLOL

A GPS would ruin our driving pleasure. We would have too much anx. trying to programme the thing. Actually I do have a GPS. It is called Wiley, and it can open the window and ask directions from a local in either English or French!!

No GPS in my 11-year-old Toyota, either...
I could buy one, but they seem very distracting. I do like having the maps and atlases to look at, and mark with highlighter the route I want to drive. If and when I ever take to the road again.
