Enjoyed this post immensely and we grew up at the same time in much the same way, war and rationing and short of everything and three of my brothers in the military, army and airforce.Lovely post Sis.

I didn't want it to stop.
I remember the rationing, but I really didn't pay much attention to it. Mom and Dad were such hard workers and they always had something for us to eat.

I never knew that you had rationing Pat, but I can tell you we felt bloody frightened even as kids until America joined in. Not nice to hear the drone of planes even if they were bombing 60miles away and one could see the sky alight.

Your Mother never took the easy way in life from all that you have written. Two complete families and how she must have missed her two eldest..plus the one she never got to know. A most interesting book, hers which is your history.
