Re: Krisles

Gene Autry's sidekick was Smiley "The Frog" Burnett. He did a live show at our movie theatre when I was about ten years old, and played guitar and recited a silly poem titled "Oh Spring." It was about two minutes of just repeating the title, "Oh spring, oh spring, Oh spring, oh spring," in various tones - the kids were falling out of their seats laughing.

I remember the Cisco Kid....but, I loved almost all of the cowboys (and girls!).  I want to say that his sidekick was Poncho and he was always saying, "Oh, Ceeesco"!  We once had Frog or Froggie (can't remember) - Gene Autry's sidekick, at our house for supper - Daddy just asked him to join us with no warning to my mom when he was doing school variety shows as a one-man band....all the neighborhood kids dropped in to visit me!LOL!  He fell asleep on our sofa and snored.....

40 was one leg in the graveLOL...but the little cousin was over the moon with excitement so that was all that really mattered...and a nice post. The cisko Kid was on in Australia too I believe...most interesting post

ps...re my today's post...Australia size wise is about the same as the USA and yes it ranges from tropical  down to very old, sort of English weather in Tasmania. It could be a huge nation except that so much of it is hot dry desert or semi desert. northern Wester Australia and across to parts of Queensland is rich in minerals. Coal and Iron ore. All the bad stuff. LOL

I suppose forty seemed old to you at the time Pat. Now he might have looked like a young desperado. I shouldn't think he had to jump on a horse once he became famous.

Kids learn, eventually, maybe, that their heroes are human

and the characters they love are not the actors who play them. The disillusionment comes soon enough...

Great fun! Love the description of that interior design, and I'm sure you too are glad you weren't rude to that old cowboy, having realized later that most if not all movie actors are 'fakes'...
