homeschooling or not??

Hello!  It is a tough question for parents! They hope that their school system would do what they are suppose to do. Teach their child what is needed for them to graduate and to survive has adults. What is this about bullies? Bad parenting or bad school district or what? It makes for our kids to go to school harder. It should cost the school district. Our kids need to feel safe to learn in every way. A parent should be able to have a choice to teach them or let them go to a school system that won't cost them an arm and leg for their child to go to that school. My younger sister home schooled her kids. She graduated her oldest. And was told by the school system her kids are pretty smart. Now that is amazing. My youngest sister never went to college. Good luck home schooling.

Good topic!

This is something I have been wondering for years. I cant help my children with math since I dont understand how it is taught anymore. Would it be better if I just taught them myself. Thank you for this.

How does one Homeschool?

Hi... I thought you might like reading this blog:

Be a student of your child!

Before anyone can effectively teach their own kids, tuning into their indivduality and staying focussed on their strengths is a must.

We each have a combination of learning styles and love languages.  Learning styles are pretty cut and dry, there are alot of good books and resources out there that are worth checking out. Also, talk to other homeschool parents and friends that are teachers.

Joining an Accademy is a great way to begin networking with fellow home educators. They opporate as private schools and sometimes have requirements that match and compete with conventional schools, although these requirements aren't necessary to teach at home.

Another option and what I chose to do is: File your own "small" private school affidavit with the Department of Education (US only). Each state has their own way of doing this, but if you do it online it will cost you nothing and the only requirement is that you:
1. OFFER school between the hours of 8am and 3pm
2. Keep record of attendence ( Our schoool is offered 24/7 so records are simplfied)
3. The children are immunized or you have a statement on record that waives this,
which we have the legal right to do.

Every family developes their own style of living and teaching. The best thing to do is set your own goals and go from there.

It is a great question to ponder. I am not familiar with homeschooling, so I guess I would send any future kids of mine to school because of the familiarty.
