Such nice honest spoken words. Some men have actually been like this and were truly contented. I can imagine your Dad as one of the best.

What a nice man your Dad must have been, what a good man. It would have been nice to have lived like that, I was too restless always; until now. Thank you for sharing this and your Dad with us.

Literally the 'stoic' ideal - sitting on the 'stoa', the porch, and observing the world go by...It's a position not entirely unfamilar to me, but I am definitely not as nice as your Dad was...

idea it was for later in life. When I was in school I had a case of the wanderlust...

A beautiful poem by Sam Walter Foss. It is great that you still remember a poem your dad loved. I am sure he was a very nice man
