Re:
Big lads, they don't come any bigger than we uns, I dare not suggest it to Archie he would be up the ladder like a monkey up a stick. Back to the drawing board, more culinary treats in store.

Re: CCT

I wonder what he was looking for Naut, you can always borrow mine. Problem is finding the walnuts at the right stage one has to do the case, i.e. The green outer as well.

Re: ChiffChiff
The trouble is Bro we never get nice walnuts here, I think they come from China. I really like to skin the nut while it is still milky.

Re:
Yes very astute A, I expect it was meant to be a play on words. As I am dyslexic I usually check carefully . Sometimes little things slip through, well they use to, now they groan a bit, suspenders perhaps. A bit annoying I prefer the English spelling on neighbour etc. This spell checker does not agree, so I use either.

Right Pat, it has to sink in. I think we are a bit behind you, although there is nothing worse than hard shelled pickles.

I remember years ago we had a bunch of beetles around. I have not seen them in awhile...I like the use of the doctor imagery.

I believe it's too late to pickle the walnuts here - a few have already
begun to bail out of the branches. I loved the last line of your poem about as well as any line of any poem ever. Even T S Eliot's line about growing old and wearing trousers rolled.

I've never heard of pickled walnuts, but I am going to check that out as Son #3 has several very large walnut trees on his property and I am curious.

I've never had pickled walnuts - I've always had them raw, the way nature intended, but maybe I'll give them a try, if I can find the recipe...And your poem reminds me of a case here in Toronto where this guy was going around the hospital with a stethoscope examining all the ladies. It went on for days, until it was discovered that he wasn't a doc...

An excellent poem from one of my most admired poets today. Is it holidays where you are yet/ ask some big lads to collect the walnuts and offer them half to sell if they get them for you.
