I hope someone will plant a new tree to replace it!
And I'm glad no one was hurt.

Re: taps
It is all cleaned up and gone now except for about 6" tall stump. They always do the stump work later by different people.

Re:
There was some wind. It may have been enough for such a tall and old tree. We had windy weather for about three days prior.

all i can say is wow! to the trees credit, the old man never hurt anyone and that was amazing. doesnt sound like there was a lot of damage except for the massive clean up.

How strange though to just give up, I take it there was no wind. Once it would have been viewed as an omen. I guess though trees do die in time it is inevitable.

THat is a whole lot of excitement you had there with the latest tree to go...I have a lot of trees around my house. They look fine, although I do know there may come a point when they all start to go up at some point.

That is really too bad. I hate hearing about trees like that meeting their demise.

Elegant to the end, the oak died as she dictated and no one was harmed. I hate to see or read of a beautiful tree being removed.

I hate to lose a tree, but it is as Naut said, lucky that it was the only
casualty. Could have been so much worse.

It's always sad to see large old trees die - but at least no people got hurt! I shudder to think what could have happened if there had been small children in that area...
