I remember the story my uncle used to tell about how his daddy
drove 2 cars and walked home from the country all in the same time frame. Seems one car broke down and he walked home and got another. Then he would drive a mile and park and walk back and get the other car he had fixed. He would drive a mile past that car and walk back and get the other until he got everyone home.

I'm imagining the big traffic jam 15 minutes later...
or 5 minutes after the tow truck starts hooking up to the first car.

Before I had my truck, it always felt weird when my car was away for maintenance.

I hope the new finish on the parking lot is worth the inconvenience.

Enjoy being chauffeured! The only reason I don't enjoy it when it happens to me is that I don't think anyone but me can drive properly, LOL...

I cannot imagine what they are going to do with their cars, but $300 is a lot of money plus the cost of keeping it where they take it. Oh my! You are fortunate your son lives so close.

This post of yours has hit a very tender subject I spent a tearful afternoon dealing with. I am going through the nightmare right now of not letting my mom have her vehicle at the assited living facility. She periodically calls me and insists that I bring it to her, and we go through the argument again. She was always a good driver...and I really cannot point to any specific incidents that she can recall (or was aware of) to explain to her why...and refuses to accept that simply the fact she is so frail and walker-dependent, her balance so bad she falls, sometimes forgets where she is, calls for loss of driving privileges....I have resorted to "mean" arguments like the fact that I have over $100k in income in the last three years from having to leave my job when she has fallen and I've had to come take care of it - I am it, there is no one else to do "clean up" when she is careless and refuses to make accomodations that a broken hip and cognitive changes have brought. I made a promise to myself working elderly-caused accidents that I would never be one of those lazy family members who did not take action because I didn't want to deal with it or because (most often) it was too inconvenient. I understand how horrible it is for her to have lost that independence...my heart is torn and I feel like the devil incarnate....it destroys me when she looks at me like she hates me. But I will not risk her life, or those of other's. I've told my daughter to harden her heart and be ready...and to do it...and I have written her a letter of permission to hand me when necessary, telling her I trust her judgement completely, just in case I have forgotten. I suggest everyone do the same....because I know my mom doesn't mean to do this to me.

Of course your family will always help you out. You have a very special family. but do people just forget when they get a notice like that about the car park.

They love towing cars...and so do the tow companies. They are whistling while they tow
Glad your son lives close by and can help you out
