what a person, what an effect he must have had on so many people both students and faculty. Thank you for bringing him into our lives by writing about him so well.

Yes a joy to remember Pat . My uncle was one of the first boys to win a scholarship to Oxford from the local Grammar School. There was no way it was cheap in those days but his mother schemed and scraped and got him through. He later became a Don. Your man was happy to have achieved his dream and who can ask for more.

Sometimes it makes me a little sad...

all the marvelous people I never met...  Your stories of some you have known often bring on that wistful feeling, and also get me thinking of the ones I have, in my own life.
