Sad in a way V. All the old haunts have vanished, it was a time of innocence in a way.

Loved this!  I could just see all the antics you enjoyed as a child, and know you realize you were so lucky to have experienced.  One set of my grandparents were farmers and I treasure my memories of time spent there, doing some of the same things you write of.

I lived most of my childhood in neighborhoods, so the kids were always nearby.

Ugly encroaching urbanization but we remember the freedom of being kids a safe to explore. Loved the little boy chasing the hens and copping it from their protector.
