I'm from the 'old school' I always paid. Women seemed to earn much less so I just didin't let it bother me. It was kind of proof if you paid for dates you could support a family!!!

Most interesting for me who dated in the olden days when a girl didn't have any money really to take a guy out so he automatically paid. I remeber insistinf on paying only ever once because he was such a nice man but married and I never dated married men if I knew.
