There is such a sadness about the balance of Nature. Today a hawk flew over our car when we were driving and Wiley said that it had a small bird in its talons.

I never read that book, nor even knew about it, but I can understand the eerie connotations...To me the owl is always connected with Minerva (Athena), as a bird of wisdom...

I read that book decades ago. It made an impression on me. I wondered when I threw that in there if anyone would notice. Of course it would be you.

Owls are excellent hunters, silent wings, night vision... fierce.
There's a book "I Heard the Owl Call My Name," I read once decades ago. Mysterious
and perhaps a bit unnerving to experience such a thing. Good writing, Taps!

Hoot owls are not large...
I don't think one could persuade a cat to go with them. A squirrel, sadly perhaps so, though most of them are not about at night, so I hear.

Oh my. We have a lot of Eagals that next in our State Park on the mountain by the lake here. This year after the Eagle let her little Eaglet fly it seems an Owl took up residence and has three babies.
